Caring

Caring for each other and for those around us is an important part of our Christian life, following the example of Jesus Christ.  We offer this care to the people of the Kingsthorpe parish in a number of ways.

Ill or in hospital

If you are ill or you know someone in Kingsthorpe who is ill or in hospital, please contact the team rector if you would like a visit from one of the clergy or a licensed lay minister.  We like to support both the person who is sick and their family.

If you wish, we can also add their names to our daily or weekly prayer list.  We never underestimate the power of prayer in these situations - our experience tells us that prayer can and often does make a difference, as God works through our heartfelt words and yearnings.  It can bring comfort and peace.

Housebound or lonely

If you or someone you know in Kingsthorpe is too frail or elderly to come to church any more, please contact the team rector if you would like us to bring you communion or visit you at home.

Residential homes

We regularly visit the care homes in our parish:  Boughton Lodge, Nicholas Rothwell House, Obelisk House and Turn Furlong.  If someone you know is moving into one of these homes, on a short or long-term basis, let us know and we can look out for them on our visits and/or arrange to take home communion to them.  If this would be helpful, please contact our team rector, Revd Canon Jane Butler, on 01604 717133..

Caring for a loved one

If you care for a loved one at home, we know how tough this can be at times.  We are here for you.  If you would like us to pop round for cuppa and a conversation, please contact the team rector.  She will arrange for one of the clergy or a licensed lay minister to contact you.

Coping with grief

If someone who is important to you, a family member or friend, has died and you would like comfort and support, please feel free to contact our team rector.  Do not think that you are troubling us, we know how difficult it can be when someone we love dies.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NRSV)
