St John the Baptist

Welcome to St. John the Baptist's church.

Known as 'the Church on the Green', there has been a church building on the site since the 12th century.  This historic building provides a beautiful setting for our Sunday and weekday services, and for christening and wedding services.  We would like to invite you to join our friendly and thriving church family.

Here at St. John the Baptist, we enjoy worship that is mainly of a middle to high church tradition.  Our main Sunday service is a Eucharist at 10am.  The beauty of our worship at these services is enhanced by our choir, who lead us in the singing of traditional and well-loved hymns.  On the first and third Sundays of the month, the service is particularly geared towards families of all ages.  On the other Sundays of the month, our children spend part of their time in 'Junior Church' continuing their worship on the same theme as the adults, rejoining the service at the Peace.

If you prefer a quieter, more meditative service, there is a said Holy Communion service at 8am on Sunday and at 9.30am on the first Thursday of the month.

If you enjoy more contemporary or reflective worship, come along to our evening Exalt! service on the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.

For more details of our Sunday and weekday services, please see Services at St. John the Baptist.  All of our upcoming services are listed in the Church Calendar.
